Repeaters

Why host one

Repeaters are the backbone. One good repeater on a roof, tower, or tall building can connect a whole neighborhood to the rest of the coast. Always get the property owner's OK, and stay safe up high.

Hardware

Heltec V4, Heltec Mesh Node T096 (lower power draw), or a ready-made solar unit like the Heltec MeshTower V2 (seal it well against moisture). Solar plus battery is best, because it keeps running when the power's out.

Stand it up

  1. Flash Repeater at https://flasher.meshcore.io (Chrome/Edge).
  2. Configure over USB at https://config.meshcore.io. Set a name and a neighborhood-level location, and change the admin password (the default is password).
  3. Run the settings below, then Send Advert.
  4. Tell us on Discord (#nodes-and-map) so we can add it to the map.

Use the latest firmware (1.14 or newer, so the repeater forwards 1-, 2-, and 3-byte paths).
